Mermaid Venture is the coordinator of the InvestorNet Project,
which is a Pan-European network of venture capital and corporate
investors.
The main activity of InvestorNet is to provide a platform
for knowledge-sharing among venture capital and corporate
investors. Furthermore InvestorNet is a key partner in the
Gate2Growth initiative supported by the European Commission
with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship in Europe. The
network is kept alive through small and intimate tailor-made
RoundTables being held around Europe. The RoundTables increase
the investors’ ability to support growth and development
of innovative companies.
Besides arranging RoundTables, InvestorNet has further services
to offer, such as SAT (business plan Self
Assessment Tools) and the Business Plan Master Classes.
SAT is a new tool, aimed at improving the
skills of entrepreneurs when seeking venture capital. It is
a web-based evaluation test that checks the completeness of
a business plan, evaluating how well the most important areas
of the plan have been covered, recommending areas of improvement
vis-à-vis investors needs and requirements.
There are two versions of the SAT tool. SAT-Light, which is
free and available online, will test if traditional questions
expected to be answered in a business plan actually have been
answered. SAT-Pro provides more elaborate testing and feedback.
In addition, it allows the entrepreneur to test how various
exit decisions and budget assumptions influence the value
of the company.
The InvestorNet Business Plan Master Class
is a one-day interactive course of live interaction with experts
regarding the challenges and pitfalls associated with fund
raising. By attending a Master Class, participants will get
insight into the requirements of qualified investors and improve
the chances of safeguarding their own interests in the fund
raising process. The classes can be conducted in a tailor-made
fashion at Business Innovation Centres, Innovation Relay Centres
and other centres for provision of services to entrepreneurs
and SMEs. The number of participants is limited to between
15-20 and the course will be held in English.
